Kristin's Story:

In pulling together the different strands of my own story, I came to see more fully how Innerweave Asian Healing combines the different passions of my life… and also enables me to help others on their own healing journey.

The Art of Weaving

As a teenager I began studying the art of weaving, and it’s an interest that has stayed with me ever since… having a strong bearing on several of my choices in life. I went on to teach weaving, first at a local school, and then later to adults at local art centers. That was the first time, I think, that I really discovered my nurturing side… a nurturing thread, if you like… as I helped those adults tap into their creativity…

A Nurturing Path of Many Colors

In the early 80’s I set up a color-image consulting business with a friend, before becoming a Mary Kay consultant. I was with Mary Kay for 15 years, soon becoming a pink car driver. It was a valuable time, not only because I learned so much about sales, marketing and motivational skills… but also because it was such nurturing work, as I helped women to enhance their image and empower themselves as businesswomen...

Heeding the Call of the Cape

Looking back, I think what first drew me to the Cape was the idea of adjusting the tempo of my life and connecting with the unique healing environment here. In Detroit the fast pace really didn’t allow me any spiritual time… whereas here the beach is such an incredible magnet. Living with the tides, you get in touch with the rhythm of nature. I also think I was searching for what more there was for me in this life. I just knew there was a chunk of me that was missing…

Out of the frying pan…

Once we had we moved from Detroit, I realized I needed to change career… to spend more time with the family, and less time working or traveling. Yet I guess old patterns persist. I soon became drawn to a new career as a realtor. (It began with an invitation from the Cape Women’s Council of Realtors, to act as a commentator at their annual fashion show.) In real estate, the more you work, the more you make. Let’s just say, I didn’t sleep a lot. I loved what I did and was good at sales, so the business came together quickly… but at a price…

A turning point and a wake-up call...

It strikes me, we don’t really know how sick we are until we get better. In my case, I didn’t realize I was maxing out until I had a wake-up call a diagnosis of breast cancer in ’98. It was a real slam for me… but once I had the accepted the situation, my gut just said “Keep moving forward; don’t let this stop you.” Thankfully, a few months before, I had been drawn to acupuncture, and already it had had a profound effect on my life.

Arthur and the Ancient Healing Art

The very first time I went for an acupuncture treatment was after I’d put my back out gardening. After just one session, I felt so much better and was obviously intrigued by this ancient healing art. After much reading, I applied to the New England School of Acupuncture in the summer of ’98. It was in that October that I was diagnosed with cancer. At that point my first acupuncturist, Arthur Teubner, became my mentor, giving me books on Chinese medicine that I devoured… and helping me to re-weave my inner body, my inner web. In the fall of ’99 I began my three years of Acupuncture school, culminating in my Masters in 2002.

Helping others to Reweave their Inner Webs

My path as an Acupuncturist continues to grow and evolve. Ever since I opened my own practice, Innerweave Asian Healing, in November 2002, I have sought to help others on their own healing journeys. By weaving together the different strands of body, mind and spirit, I believe I give my clients a new sense of alignment and wholeness, and a new clarity about their choices. Think of me as a conduit for your own healing energy… supporting you to tap your own natural capacity to heal, empower and transform yourself.

Acupuncture
"Dear Kris,

Bless you for relieving what I feared would be a lifelong affliction. I had been suffering every winter from the rash called numular eczema. A long succession of top dermatologists all assured me that there was no cure; the discomfort was so great that I needed to take a powerful sleeping compound every night. The Chinese herbal compound that you have given me has almost eradicated the rash--to the point that I don't feel anything from it and can barely see it..

Bless you."
